AP Computer Science Principles is an introductory computing course that introduces students to the breadth of the field of computer science. Students learn to design and evaluate solutions and to apply computer science to solve problems by developing algorithms and programs. Python will be the language students learn because it is relatively simple to learn. Python’s simplicity, powerful built-in data structures, and advanced control constructs allow students to focus more on problem-solving and less on language issues. Students also explain how computing innovations and computing systems work, explore their potential impacts, and contribute to a computing culture that is collaborative and ethical.
