Anyone who wants to know the basic laws that apply to everyday life, or who is planning a career in any area of business will benefit from this class. Topics covered include: civil and criminal law, internal law, contract and employment law, school law, and law for the minor. Students assume the roles of juror, witness, plaintiff, defendant, attorney, school administrator, business owner, employee and employer to participate in activities such as simulations and mock trials. Students take a field trip to a courthouse and area attorneys and judges are among some of the speakers who are invited to the class. The course concludes with a mock trial.
