Electronics
2 Semesters
Available to grades: 9,10,11,12 *Eligible for Dual Credit through COD
Prerequisites: Algebra 1
Electronics is designed to introduce students to engineering concepts through the use of electronic circuit theory and applications. Students will be introduced to the production of electricity, electronic circuit behaviors, components, soldering, various laboratory equipment, and engineering processes. Students will experiment with DC circuits, AC circuits, semiconductor circuits, digital circuits, and microcontrollers (Arduino). Along the way, students will experience the engineering design process through the use of engineering challenges. Engineering challenges ask students to design, simulate, prototype, fabricate, and troubleshoot various electronic circuits including flashing LED circuits, lightsaber, smartphone charger, and digital electronic circuits. This course is recommended to students with average or above math skills and who have an interest in science, technology, and engineering. Students are eligible for College of DuPage dual credit.
