Introduction to Plant Systems

Have you ever wondered how plants grow and how to help them grow better? Students will explore principles and practices in the development, production, and use of plants. Investigate plant classification and identification, structure, growth and development, along with soil and growing mediums. Examine environmental influences on plants and investigate career opportunities in plant industries. Students will perform hands-on labs and gain experience growing, planting, and maintaining the greenhouse and the building grounds. This course serves as the prerequisite for Floral and Plant Industries, Food Sustainability and Greenhouse Food Production. This weighted course is eligible for Dual Credit through COD.
