Prerequisites: Workshop Elements or EDS1

Workshop Studio is a year-long course.Cabinet and furniture construction will be highlighted. Wood turning (lathe) as well as spray finishing are integrated into student projects. The engineering design process, advanced joinery, and panel construction are also studied. Occupations related to cabinetmaking, flat pack furniture and construction are explored. In addition to traditional woodworking tools, students will use a laser engraver, CNC (computer numerical control) and 3D printer. The focus of this course is on mastering tools that are used in college engineering labs and current manufacturing facilities. Completion of this course can lead to an OSHA 10 and ShopBot certification. This course may have additional costs for selected projects and requires approved safety glasses with side shields.
